Based on the explosive, intersectional book of essays, fiction, and poems, this brand-new RiverStage adaptation performed in the “reader’s theatre” style, will explore the diversity and universality of human reproductive experiences.  An exploration of how reproductive freedom is more than just a stance on abortion, this collection of stories takes a broad look at the world of choices that women are forced to make throughout their lives when it comes to reproduction and health.

A woman’s choice to live a child-free life is put to the test when her husband’s dying wish is for them to become parents.  An immigrant couple’s future is thrown into uncertainty by an affair and its consequences.  A new mother comes to grips with how her freedoms collide with others’.  Two friends correspond about motherhood in the time of pandemic.  In the 1970’s, a daughter marches with her mother for the Equal Rights Amendment.  And in 2022, women of all ages confront a persistently complex world of challenges….

In their own unique and unforgettable ways, this diverse group of storytellers examine this topic in ways that are at turns haunting, heartbreaking, and electrifying.  Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind production!

This reader’s theatre-style performance will be FREE and open to the public.  No tickets are necessary, and donations (suggested donation of $10-20) are gladly accepted at the door, or via our online fundraiser here.  RiverStage will donate 15% of all proceeds to The Brigid Alliance, a nonprofit nationwide service that arranges and funds confidential and personal travel support to those who must travel for reproductive healthcare access.  Copies of the book, I Know What’s Best For You: Stories of Reproductive Freedom, will also be on sale at the theatre.
