RiverStage Community Theatre, in association with Gaspipe Theatre Company, will be presenting seven world-premiere short plays in one continuous, 90-minute show titled The Gaspipe One Act Play Festival the weekend of April 21-23 in Lewisburg.   Tickets are $15 for general admission seating with discounts available for groups and season subscriptions, and they can be purchased at the door, by phone at 570-506-8423 or online here.

The Gaspipe One Act Play Festival will feature seven short, original plays submitted by playwrights from around the Susquehanna Valley and the U.S.  Each play features between two and seven actors, each play is 10-15 minutes long, and the scripts cover a wide range of genres including drama, satire, mystery and comedy.

This will be the 7th year in a row that Gaspipe has sponsored a new playwriting festival like this one.  Gaspipe co-founder Derek Scott was part of the panel who selected this year’s plays and said, “We love doing original works, and we love giving some local playwrights an opportunity to have their work produced.  It’s a wonderful way to do something new that audiences aren’t going to see anywhere else.  We had a lot of new playwrights submit their work to us this year, and it was a real challenge to select just seven of them.  We’ve always had great audiences for this festival in the past, and we think the audience is really going to love the variety and the humor this year.  There’ll be a lot of laughs, great writing and great acting.”

Scott said, “This festival is also a great way to collaborate with lots of directors and get a lot of actors involved in live theatre, too.  It’s amazing how much talent we have in this area.”  This year’s production will feature 7 directors and 22 actors from Lewisburg, Milton, Danville, Selinsgrove, Williamsport, and all around the Valley.
