The Milton Area Community Theatre (MACT) was founded in 2003 as a community of artists and volunteers who were committed to bringing high-quality, community-based musical theatre to the Valley.

The first show, the Stephen Schwartz musical Pippin, was performed in August 2003 at the Milton Area High School Performing Arts Center, and included many familiar faces. Directed by Russ Wynn, Jr., Pippin featured Daniel Brehm (who co-directed this year’s Flywheel), Ellen Boyer (who will direct Joseph), Steve Lindenmuth, Kevin Styer and Sharon Styer (recent board members who have starred in and directed many productions), and other hardworking volunteer artists.

From 2003 to 2011, MACT called the Milton Area High School its home and focused mainly on summertime musicals, including The Music Man (2004), Brigadoon (2006), Into the Woods (2007), High School Musical (2008), Chicago (2009), A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (2010) and Jekyll & Hyde (2011). During the winter months, the group also produced a series of holiday-themed concerts (Frosty Follies, An Old Fashioned Christmas).

In 2011, the group broke new ground by doing a non-musical play (Over the River and Through the Woods) at a new venue, the newly-renovated Campus Theatre in Lewisburg. And in 2012, more changes took place… a new name (RiverStage), a reorganized group, and an ambitious 3-show season that is now underway…!
If you’ve seen or been a part of a RiverStage or MACT production in the past, or if you’re just getting to know us, we hope you will enjoy our work and get involved, either onstage, backstage, or in the audience!
